This EP is a gift to my Dad, who I love and miss more than anything. My role model, mentor, best mate. You left us way too soon.

Thank you so, so much to Ryan Tracey for everything you’ve given to me and the songs. You helped the music be more intricate and beautiful than I thought possible. You’re an incredible talent and I owe you big time.

About the tracks

Feathers: The most raw song of the collection. It runs through my denial/hope that things would get better right up until they weren’t.

Essence of You: When there’s so much evidence that a passed love one was here, it becomes impossible to navigate life without being continuously reminded. This is the first song I wrote after Dad passed, and it was a slog as I wanted it to be perfect for him.

I Still Think About You All the Time: Something incredibly life changing and sad can happen, and it’s distressing to learn that nothing stops. The sun still rises, and people go back to work. The world barely blinks. ‘I Still Think About You All the Time’ touches on this realisation, and that even though life moves on, a part of you never does. I still think about you all the time.

The Wind: is about the different places Dad wanted his ashes scattered, his favourite, and now sacred waterways. The title is both a reference to his love of the wind (and his wing foiling/surfing) and the Cat Stevens’ song he would sing for us growing up.
